Hi everyone!
So, I know my blogs are not like regular blogs that give you advice. If you have come to my blogs for advice, I apologize I haven't. However, I hope that by reading my blogs, you have been able to relate and maybe find advice within my message.
So, I have been on a journey back to a healthier me for a while and though I have fallen many times, I am still getting up to make it work this time.
If you have quit so many times like me and still get up. here is a chance to read how this time will be the time to get up and stay up.
When you have risen again it is because you became determined in your mind and was
ready to go for it again. Unfortunately, if you are also like me, you wear your emotions on your sleeve so if anything negative hits you, like rejection, difficulties, anxiety, or your own mind falling back to darkness, you tend to fall quickly.
How will this time be different?
Here are 4 ways to fortify your mind to give you the strength to rise and this time stay risen.
1. Read Personal Development Books
This can be either easy or difficult. If you like to read, then it will be easy, but if you find it difficult to enjoy a good book, then this could be your Achilles heel. But, don't let that stop you!
To rise up, you must start to believe in yourself. This belief must be centered in an honest and pure love for oneself. The world doesn't make it easy as we are forced to compare ourselves to others via social media and our flaws are easily pointed out. However, if you really want to rise up stronger than before, than you must make the effort of at least 20 minutes a day to read a book that helps you dive deep into your soul and brings you to not only like yourself the way you are, but also find that true and pure love.
These books will be focused on changing the way you think about yourself and even the way you talk to yourself. And by changing the way you treat yourself; your confidence will boost and you will have the confidence to know you can make it through anything.
2. Talk Good About Yourself
Now that you have started reading these personal development books, you will be challenged to do something every morning, that at first may seem uncomfortable, especially for someone with a very low self-esteem.
What is that challenge?
You are to rise every morning, look yourself in the mirror and tell yourself at least 10 positive things.
These will be focused on how great you are, how handsome/pretty you are, how you are not afraid to take risks, how wonderful you are, and much more.
Why tell yourself this every morning?
Because you must start believing that those things are true! As I explained, social media has made it easy to point everyone's flaw, but never to admire their strengths or good qualities.
So, since you have control over your mind, you must be the first person to believe that you have good qualities.
Trust me, though at first it may seem weird, but your confidence will be boosted even more, and you will come to know you can make it through anything.
3. Listen to Motivational Talks
Social media, news and even TV shows are determined to have us only hear or read negative things that are happening around the world or even the drama that is occurring in the show.
These things can make it easy for you to fall back as by indulging yourself in social media or watching the news or your TV shows for hours invite only negative thoughts to your mind.
You must step back and ask yourself, what things am I feeding my mind? If it is negative, then you must pull away immediately.
Now, before I get any lash back, understand, I'm not saying that these things are pure evil and to avoid it all costs. What I'm saying is that we must be wise on how we invest our time and energy.
If you want the reading and the motivational morning pep talks to work, you must listen to those who are also cheering you on! Those who have gone through what you are going through and have come out the other side triumphant and strong.
There are many people who have come from a lot worst scenarios than what you are currently on, and if they can get through it, then you can rise again and this time remain strong, even through all the adversarial attacks.
Listen to as many motivational talks you need a day to keep your mind strong and continually fortifying itself to come to a true belief in oneself.
4. Time Management
Our biggest enemy in the past has always been time management. "I don't have time for that," or "I don't know where I can make time; My schedule is all booked".
I worked full-time and went to school full-time. I had a calling in my Church and have 2 kids, and a wife who require my time and attention. I also don't function well if I don't get enough sleep.
Sound familiar?
Whether you had the same excuses or similar to all my excuses before, we all know that deep down they were not the problem. The problem was and has always been time management.
How do you make it work?
Simple. You must take time (hint on time) to plan your week out. And once you have set a time for all the things in your life, work, school, homework, reading, family, etc., you stick to it.
What does this have to do with fortifying your mind, you may ask?
If you recall the times you tried to juggle everything all at once, your anxiety was on an all-time high, losing sleep, or not eating or multiple other bad habits created to cope with the stress.
Now, you will take control and manage your time correctly, which will bring you peace of mind and help you handle everything accordingly.
Conclusion
You now have 4 things you can do to get up and stay up. Organize your time, read personal development books, listen to positive/inspirational audios, and speak well about yourself to yourself, and if you stick to it, you will rise to never fall again.
I am working on staying up and to complete my goals this time. Is everyday a perfect day? no, but if you continue progressing little by little, I know you and I will make it.
